The Deal
Solacefest is an outdoor folk/folkpunk music fest with free camping for dirty kids, queers, anarchists, and allies, in the middle-of-nowhere Quebec.
Solacefest is based on the principle of loving you for exactly who you are. (Ask Bota about the intentional community plans for solace and values that he calls "Dictionary Anarchism” if you have a few hours to burn)
This is a non-profit festival. Tickets are by donation, and all proceeds are going directly to the artists and helpers. No one turned away for lack of funds, nazi punks fuck off, etc.
When & Where
When: July 25th & 26th
Where: Just west of Danford Lake, Quebec, 92km north of Ottawa. Ask a punk or email bota to ask for more precise details.
Take the 105 North to Kazabazua and hang a left onto the 301 and drive through danford lake then keep an eye out on the left side of the highway for some kind of sign. Probably a big pink anarchy symbol…
If you are coming from Montreal, follow the signage to the 105 in Gatineau and then follow the same as above
Facilities & Survival
What are the facilities like?
Rustic but well cared for. Expect water stations and portajohns, but not much more!. There might be outdoor showers if you aren’t shy.
Cell signal is available at the parking area, but thankfully not in the pit! Seriously… This was an accident.
Power? Kind of. The stage will have all the power it needs, and we’ll have some charging stations but expect them to be first-come-first-served and quite limited. This is the forest!
Local Support
There is a general store in Danford Lake, ‘Magasin TL’. The owner is an awesome lady who can really use our support. And she is preparing for your needs! Smokes, Gas, Water, Beer, Wine, Coolers, some household and health stuff, Snacks and food (cooked and grocery type) She even makes pizza to order!
